aww come on Brad.:D
this is the first time we've ever seen an IDI spool anything like this.
we know we can't ever compare to direct injection.
im playing devils advocate with him a bit myself though.but there's no disputing, this is clearly record braking idi street driven power here.
for the the $ though,i have to say id go with a chipped PSD swap too.not sure i personally "get it" trying so hard with an idi.but i sure do like it!:D

I am curious to see what the truck will do with the correct amount of fuel. You can see the boost and EGT just hit a wall and stop. that is due to not enough fuel. I wonder if he is looking to even MORE pump upgrades

what would be a good turbo for say a dps or moose pumped truck? He is running a BW s362, but seems to be lacking some fuel for the amount of air. Would an hx35 be enought for an upgraded pump?

Seriously? You better not be talking about a 7.3 with a stock turbo, with just a chip they're still much laggier than that, I know, I own two of them and regularly maintain 3 more... That thing spools as quick as, if not a little bit quicker than my Cummins, and it has enough fuel to push the poor stock H1C w/14cm housing past the limits of my 35 psi boost guage.

pennsylvaniabo: A HX35 is very comparable to what the aftermarket put on these engines, too small. That S362 would probably run very nicely on even a very mildly modified engine, yes, there's lots of air available there, but, it's not like you have to push the turbo to it's limit, and a nice clean running diesel that still makes good power is not a bad thing.

To answer Brad's question about playing with the fuel, NMB2 has stated in his thread that he's already planning to swap out his 180cc IP for a 200cc pump. He's also working out fuel pressure regulator issues to get more fuel.

Yep he is goin with a bigger IP eventually and is goint to run a Fuel Management Unit type regulator like Vortech runs with their supercharger kits as the regulator. It is boost referenced and will be a pretty cool idea if you ask me.

Wmoguy: He is running a Holly Blue.

You guys should drive a Powerstroke w chip if you thing that spools fast

Pfft, I had a 12 valver with a 0 fuel plate in it, but thats an apples to oranges comparison. For an IDI, NMB's truck is very impressive.

I bet you didn't get 17mpg with that.:D

Personal best was 20 mpg's running empty at 55mph. Towing about 8k or so I averaged about 14-15. My towing mileage actually went up some after all the mods. Cummins were always better on fuel than the IDI's.

I bet he did. My 24v which was probably more bombed than that one, could hit the 20 mpg threshold as a daily driver (driven like a normal person)

I also had a 2002 24 valver, that was a little better on fuel running empty, but towing it was slightly worse. I prefer the 12 valve models, simpler and easier to make power with...

It seems like most places I go it is a group of us traveling together. Some of the guys have strokes, and some have cummins. I have a hard time keeping up at times, and they always beat my mpg by quite a bit. Generally I am lucky to break 12, while the stroke will do 14ish, and the lowest I have seen the dodge was 16. My setup is a couple grand heavier, but gets no better mpg without the extra weight.

Some of it could be power to wieght ratio. An idi has less power usually, so consequently you have to push it a lil harder. I bet NMB2s truck will get good mileage but only time will tell what it is. All I know is it makes good power...
