I saw a 2004 F150 supercab XLT 2wd for sale on Kijiji, $4000 obo....4.6, auto with 103,000km on it.....Excellent body, bad frame was the deal...It was 5 minutes from my home so I went for a look....Just as stated in the ad - the body was great, the frame was toast...beyond repair.:dunno....I bought it for $2000, figured I could find a frame and move everything over or part it out and make some dough....Either way I'm in money because this is a $10,000 truck with a good frame....Wouldn't you know it the first call I made looking for a frame this morning and I score one for $750...I took a 1hr drive to see it at the wrecking yard....MINT....still has the factory paint on it.:D....I guess I will be driving a very cheap 2004 F150 in the near future...:rotflmao...

New brakes on all four corners and good rubber too, nice color matched cap as well...Clean one owner title with no liens - I checked.;Really...The owner is a retired railway worker, lives right next to a Prospect bay - salty air....He has learned the value of under coating....He couldn't justify the cost to have a shop replace the frame so I got a smokin' deal because I can do it myself....I figure with odds and ends, unforseen's and taxes I can have it road ready for $5000 tops.;Sweet...I asked him what he wanted for it and $2000 was the number, I figured he was already taking a real beating in the deal so I didn't go in for the kill as usual...I don't need bad Karma chasing me around in my nice truck.:D...Picks to come tomorrow....Now I just need the wifey to stop seeing dollar signs and picture my big grin in the drivers seat...LOL

Not here, Anything in nice shape with low mileage is atleast $10,000.....Unless it's a beat up work truck....I found an 06 F150 with a side impact for $3000...This truck needs very little so if I'm careful in the swap I can maximize my profit should I decide to sell it...I plan to epoxy paint the new frame and undercoat the hell out of it.

Once It's done and I see the finished product I will make the call...Drive or flip....I'd like to keep it and sell my 06 B2300 but I wouldn't be upset if I kept that little truck - I like it....I could make $5000-6000 or so and pay off some debt....Hard call to make....LOL

Brought home the $2000 truck today:sly, washed up really well. Still need to clean the interior...Drives good...It has a misfire on #5, I had a spare coil here and that fixed it. The steering is stiff and doesn’t return to center on it’s own...Either a ball joint is seized or the steering shaft u-joint is bad...I have to check it out. The pass side mirror is busted at the pivot so I need one of those too. The new $750 frame should be ready and here mid week so I can clean and paint it. I have to look it over well and make a “to do” list and a parts needed list as well....I figure I will have $5000 into it when I'm done, maybe less depending on how I can weasel the taxes at the DMV.

Now THAT'S a sweet deal.......

What's the little hole in the front bumper for?

I think the hole is for the block heater plug but I will have to investigate and report back...LOL.....It's going to be a fair amount of work but I could end up with a nice daily driver for a very cheap price....I plan to paint the new frame with some epoxy type paint that we use on the snowplows and ferries at work...Tough as nails and it lasts a long time....I need to see the body shop crew to find out more about it to see if it's something I can spray with my paint guns...It's a really thick finish.;Sweet....I think the wifey was shocked at the condition of the truck when I got it home....My parents and m-inlaw were in disbelief that the frame could be bad under a truck that looks this good up close....Needless to say there was no 2nd guessing my purchase.:rotflmao

What we have been pondering for a while for under coat is road paint. Dad ran through some with his 99 Chev about 5-6 yrs ago and it still never came off or rusted yet (Rocker panels decided they wanted to dissapear during the last winter), Now all we need to do is figure out where to get some. It'd go great with a yellow truck :rotflmao

I actually work on our road painting equipment from time to time....It puts down the paint first and then say 1/2 second later it puts down the glass powder which makes it reflective....Fancy **** and expensive too....Comes right off with some orange based degreaser and a hot water fed pressure washer...I see several cars per week getting cleaned off at work after they pass the truck with the large sign on the rear - " DO NOT CROSS CENTER LINE - WET PAINT."....They can afford an Escalade but I guess they can't read....:rotflmao

the stuff they use in kali is not paint. it's a plastic. the trucks literally have 5gal bucket sized slugs of yellow and white "paint" that gets melted and dumped into a pressure pot and it gets sprayed onto the road. wicked nasty stuff. those "paint" rigs are the least fun to tow due to all the "paint" gluing all the nuts and bolts shut.cookoocookoocookoocookoo

Paint here is a summer ritual, we then spend all winter trying to peel off the center line with a big yellow rusty paint scrapper....:rotflmao
