she should start quicker @ 65.
id say your cranking 2-3 times as much as it should take at that temp.
hows the compression,and glow plug system?
your starting system sounds good.turning over nice and fast.just not firing soon enough.

I don't think he used the glow plugs

oh yeah my bad.he does say no GP's in the first post.
kinda ******* the starter doing that for the cold start.

Why wouldn't you use glow plugs?


Just because your truck can start without them doesn't mean I'd do it all the time :eek:

I wish there was a real easy upgrade over glowplugs that worked as good or better and cleaned up the clutter of wiring on the engine. I know some people have experimented with grid heaters but haven't heard whether anyone is pulling it off during winter.

Well yeah if comparing to a powerstroke but I just meant alot of wiring could be removed if there was something nice and simple. I'm not saying I am about to eliminate my glowplug system. It seems to work pretty good.

How about a either system like the tractors have. Just hit the button and it gives it a shot of either from the cab:dunno
