well since i bought my truck the wires on the tach sensor has been showing right where the wires come out the sensor. i decided to go ahead and change the sensor hoping that it might fix my blinking od light as well. i went to the stealership to purchase it. when the guy told me how much it was i almost hit the floor. $68.00 for the sensor, they must think its made of gold.

Thats the going price. Atleast you didnt get ***** at $78 for the stupid water in fuel sensor on the 7.3 filter head! Most dealers only charge like $25 for that thing.

Just get the part number from your local dealer and then go to one of the online ford parts places and buy it, it is normally 25% or more cheaper online. I had to buy a new Vacuum pump pulley, local dealer wanted $50+, I got it online from a ford dealership in WA I believe and it was only $25. I used to buy everything through Titus Will ford parts but lately I been using that discount ford parts online they are even cheaper than titus will.


Edit:
I just checked on discount ford parts and it is $53 and it is $57 on titus will ford parts, I guess some parts just are expensive no matter where you go.

the only happy ending was for them as i walked out the door with it.

You might have been able to salvage the sensor - I cut both wires, slipped on shrink sleeves, spliced, and it was golden again.

They want $83 at My local stealership. I got a used one from a member here and all is good now. You could salvage it as stated above ^^ and save Yourself the expense.

well its a little to late for that lol. well at least ill have an extra one just incase the new one bites the dust. i was also hoping that it might also fix my od light delima. i wonder because of lack of juice from the alt could also be my od light prob?

You should start another thread about this. I do not have experience on the E4OD but I do know that is sign of a different problem.

well im about tired of the e4doa and would real like to convert over to the zf5 trans. i just need someone to give me a list of everything i need to do the swap and what vehickle would be a good canidate for the transplant trans? my sister-in-law works for a big wrecking yard and can get me a rebuilt zf5 cheeper than to buy one out there yard (go figure). plus she can also get it for me at her cost.

Not exactly for E4OD but may help give You an idea. Here

If you are wanting to change yours over to a ZF5, you just need to get Flywheel, Clutch, Pressure plate, Throw out bearing, Pilot bearing, Slave and master cylinder,Clutch pedal and bracketry, crossmember and tranny mount (you may be able to modify yours to work), Drive shaft and of course transmission (both for 2WD). I am assuming your is 2wd. If you have access to a wrecking yard then you should be set to do this swap. You will have to bypass the neutral safety switch from the E4OD so that the truck will start once you take it out. If you have crusie you will want to get the Clutch switch off the donor truck too and you can hook your neutral safety switch wiring through that or just leave it bypassed for simplicity. If you want it to look really nice you can also grab the steering column from a manual tranny truck but that is really not required.

Could be. The E4OD likes electricity.
