I think it'll be much better. As hard as I can beat it/lug it/abuse it, haven't seen over 1000 egt.

Not a problem, that's what forums are for! I had a tone wheel made, I'm going to use a rear diff sensor to read it. I need to make a bracket still to hold the sensor. I had it fluctuate at idle, but never dialed it in.

The borg Warner turbo is awesome. Tows like a freight train and maxes out my 35 psi gauge. I'll update with some engine pictures and more junk towed...

Just wanted to say I love this build. My IDI is a little tired now, but I have been looking at this thread for years. Always something in the way, university or work always took my time but I think I will finally do it. I plan on doing what you did with the engine but backed by an Eaton Fuller FSO6406 or 8406, a bit more work involved but it will hold up well behind the engine. I may rebuild and stud the engine depending on its condition, but I don't want crazy power out of it either so upgrading the A pump, Injectors and turbo may be all I will do to it.

My biggest concerns are getting the engine to fit with the V belts set up (or convert the engine and accessories to serpentine) and making good engine mounts for this beast. My truck is super duper axle swapped so there is a bit more restriction in the frame, I hope I dont have to complete delete the engine cradle cross member. I'll see what happens as problems arise.

Either way, the search for a 360 finally begins for me. Thank you very much for this write up you did a decade ago, I would have never even thought of this swap if I'd never come across this

FWIW, I was shopping for these recently. 5305/5306 is commonly used with the 5.9 cummins, and the 6306 shows up with DT466 and 7.2 Cats.

I ended up with a 6306 due to price and availability.

The Spicer 7 speeds (aka "6plus") are another one to look at.
