Serpentine Tensioner Groove

Well I’ve finally gotten around to playing with the old truck again. Right before I parked it I threw a serpentine belt. I knew when I installed the serpentine stuff that there was a groove in the bracket. Shoutout to @Nero

Does anyone know if this affects anything? With the tensioner installed there is no contact between the bracket and the spring in this location so I’m thinking it doesn’t matter, but I’m interested in other opinions.

At this point my options are to fix the groove with JB Weld, try to weld the cast aluminum, or just buy a bracket from a 94 with the closed spring tensioner.

The way the wear looks, I thought the spring retainer pin wore it out, but it looks like its supposed to be there for the spring to clear... Hmmm....

That would be great. This is my first serpentine setup for an IDI. I’ve only been around V belts so I’m not sure what right looks like.

It is a little unclear to me as well. I did see some small metal shavings as I tore it down but I’m not sure if that was related to the install/removal or if it was wearing on the bracket when the truck was running.

Three of that bracket on EBay at the moment. Looks to me like that grove is in the 93 bracket.

Idiot dialed me into this.
The enclosed tensioner is what you want, as it's just more stable, bit you have to change to that style accessorie bracket.

Ok from the looks of it.....
This doesn't have 50k factory on it.

I'm going to say that the spring made it's own groove.

That tensioner had 500 miles on it, and the oem died sometime after I gotit @ 37k oem miles...
