Finally back on the C350 project.
Got the Kilmat insulation down.

Then laid out the vinyl kit from LMC

And realized I have one shot to not screw this up.
Hoping for some "lessons learned" tips from someone that's been there and done that.
For the carpet, lay out in the sun and let it get warm. it will lay down a lot nicer in the cab that way. I also seem to remember reading about using some sort of heating tool to bun the holes in it, Instead of using a knife to cut. Not sure if a soldering iron would get hot enough or not. I have never done it. just remember reading about it and it sounded like a good idea to me.

I think I'll pass on the heat gun, would be too easy to scorch unintended areas. I'll stick with the old fashioned knife and scissors.

I think what asmith was talking about was once you have marked you would heat a bolt or some other metal rod and use that to make the hole. Keeps it from tearing or unraveling
I use a Ryobi soldering iron for this exact thing! It makes a hard circle so it isn't as prone to tearing

Yesterday and the day before I finally quit being chicken of spraying some paint on the front bumper I have been procrastinating on. I got out the ol harbor freight black widow spray gun and started the primer

did a little light block sanding to smooth it out for the base coat of ford medium Lapis Blue Metallic

Now I have never done painting with a spray gun so I watched a ton of videos on what to watch out for spraying metallics. Did a few coats of color and a few of clear

So today I tried to heatstroke myself working in the shop getting the bumper together and mounted. It's a 2022 bumper with a complete performance conversion brackets. I have to work on some clearance issues for full lock to lock. It was the new f250 tremors with the color match bumpers and the fact that my original was rotted out that lead me down this path. But here it is on the truck.

It's been hot. I can't even. And all the jobs coming in are outdoor jobs. Picked up someone's camper to do brake wiring and new tires, and move the best old tire to become the spare

Had a dysfunctional situation and dropped a car off in front of a house. "No ragrats" haha.

I haven't mentioned it at all, but I'm still regretting not doing the AC. Sometimes I feel like the scarecrow in wizard of oz: "if I only had a brain".

Trailer has a leaking tire, so I backed it and truck into my overgrown side driveway, that's future me's problem though!

Still would not trade this truck in for anything!

Kind of update on Bronco, got a metal table, so going to start e4od teardown. Haven't done one in like 9 years so hopefully that part of my brain is still accessible.

I got a plate to use for the 100% rotted 3rd row floor area, so with the 2 door bronco rear body, I should be able to patch it together

The other part is the oil pan has rotted through, so going to pick up body, do a 2 inch body lift (since I'll have to replace and cab up 3rd row area cab mounts anyway, and definitely chop off existing f350 mounts).

My dad has begun the gantry crane measurements, and my brother donating the 2 chain hoists we used to lift his ancient metal bath tub up in air to replace flooring (THAT WAS SO SKETCHY!!!)

Might have an actual update in 2044 heehee

Good Luck on the E4OD.
The output shaft diameter is no longer in use, so that snap ring just in front of the rear planetary is not available. Mine snapped during the disassembly. I was able to get one from the Transmission Warehouse in CA, he sent me all he had for the price of postage. He was just glad he didn't have to throw them away.
I wound up with a couple extra if you are in need.
Personally, I'll never do a transmission rebuild on an obsoleted tranny again.
After all that I put 100 miles on the C6 and pulled it and went ZF542.

For me the other options aren't options. I cannot find any good rebuilt sources for engines or transmissions for myself or customers.

[I am also looking for a 3v 5.4 for a Ford, and an auto transmission for an 06 corolla, and heads for a 4.0 discovery. ]

I don't want a used one. For me this transmission has a lot of parts, upgrades and literature available so it's the only automatic I've felt comfortable rebuilding.

Almost every vehicle that comes through my shop is obsolete haha. Finding parts sometimes uses more labor hours than the replacement. At least I can do that in air conditioning with no pants heehee

Thanks for the heads up on the snap ring! I do tend to let them go flying and finding random clips is a nightmare. I seem to lose the ones on older bmw coolant hoses and gm transmission lines the most.

Today my dad took measurements to make me a "frame" to hold it up. Many years ago he made me a whole table with the frame as part of it, but sold that with the shop :(

My dad came by thinking he would take the transmission with him to build around it. He didn't believe me how big it was I did give him the core for the Corolla I'm going to try to rebuild.

Update post to my little shifter project, turned out great
Too bad the boot is a little stretched because a wire was ran though it on the old trans set up
And the knob is a bit chewed up
Just need to find a better one or if anyone has leads on knew that would be awesome
