Approximate estimate on turbo install

Soooooo....coming down to the wire! My turbo kit and pyrometer from Russ is rounding the bend...trying to get ready for lining up the install. What should I be looking at as a reasonable amount of time for the mechanics to install it? Ballpark idea so I know they are not gonna take advantage of me! Thanks for having my back ...this group has helped me so much.

reasonable time is somewhere between 6 and 12 hours if no bolts break and it all fits properly. If you are doing an intercooler, a few more. I would shop around for some one that has done a few. Good luk!

This is what I was going to say. It all depends on the experience of the installer. If he/she has never done this before, then I could see it taking a lot longer than if that person has done several installs. To make life easier for them and possibly you in the future, make sure that they remove the studs from your passenger's side exhaust manifold and use bolts there instead.

I keep seeing this... Why? Is it to get the up-pipe to seal against the manifold?

Sometimes, yes. I believe that studs will keep the Y pipe from sealing on 093 and factory turbos. At least the type with the 9/16" hex on them that makes it easy to remove them. Other times it makes a huge difference on the install of the Y pipe. I've even ran into studs that were long enough to make removing it in the truck next to impossible and I would assume the it would be the same to install it.

It's about 2 hours away...I think I will give them a call and see what all is entailed. I had talked to them before about something else and was really impressed of how they handled it. My regular mechanics do not seem real confident on this install...gave me a couple of red flags. Not many around here like the old school rides!!!!

That's a good sign to go somewhere else. I know that Conestoga will be able to get the job done efficiently.

Only two hours? Definitely worth the drive imo.

I weekend seems like a perfect amount of time to give yourself. If you’re completely dedicated and have more than 1 person you could do it in a day.

I really wish I could do it myself!!! But OMG what would I end up with...a big blender probably...I rely heavily on "truck husbands" I have to pay...!!!
