Hey guys,

Just noticed today that there is a small port in the top of the block under my glow plug controller on my 7.3 IDI. There is no plug in it and i'm wonder if I should put a pipe plug into it. It's about 1/8 or 1/4. It almost resembles the port for the oil pressure sender (a little further back).

I'm thinking it should not be open though...or should it?

I seem to have some oil blow by coming off my valley.

That "valley drain" has a plug in it.

He says his is open.

he wants to know if it should be plugged or not.

Which is it? :D

It isn't a true plug. Its hollow where the square hole is so it can hold tight on the valley pan but still allow fluid to flow through

Good catch. At first glance, it looks similar to a fill plug on a differential but like you say, it's hollow to allow drainage.
