Do you have any more details about this? Did it have the internal differences like the Factory Turbo Ford engines did? If that was flywheel HP, then it was getting close to twice what the Ford factory Turbo engines were rated at. It would also explain where the internal upgraded parts came from. It's just hard to believe that they would design all new parts for the few engines that Ford sold that already had a turbo on them. Yes, there were a lot, but very few compared to all of the N/A engines that were sold in Fords over the years. I have no info on numbers, but I'd bet that the N/A engines sold still out number the Factory Turbo engines sold in the two years (or 1 1/2 years if you want to get technical) that they were offered.

I had some tech pages saved on them on my old phone but lost the backup on that one. I’m sure with some googling it can be found.

Good find, I believe mercruiser makes the higher power one.

That's everything I could find about the 300 hp model. I wonder if navistar built the base engine and then mercury installed the manifolds/turbo/pump/injectors? I wonder what internal differences there were, I read a lot of heresay about it but nothing definitive. Also found a few marine engines for sale on here coincidentally enough.

I see that the N/A is rated at 200 HP. Now I wonder how they got the extra power over the Ford set up?

THANKS,for all the answers/info it seems like the basic long block is the same and that's what I was concerned about.Changing the bolt-on stuff isn't a problem. My rollback has hydraulic brakes so it has no air compressor to contend with. Comparing the engines "side by side" isn't an option as the good engine I want to buy is still in the Ford F250 yet so I can hear it run. Odometer says 69K (yes I'm going to do a vin records check to verify) so I'm hoping I got lucky and actually did find a low mile engine.

Also both are non-turbo engines
