I get so tired of not being able to find smaller nozzles these days that I usually take my air hammer with a chisel end and enlarge the hole.

Most places have the smaller it seems like. Sometimes in truck lanes at some stations, they have a dedicated "auto diesel" lane with the smaller nozzle. It's maybe 1 times out of 20+ times do I see a large nozzle. In fact, I think that was the first time with the RV I've seen one. Or at least that I noticed. Maybe I didn't notice once before because it fits the larger one.

With my old truck, I was having a hard time filling up. Vent problems. Took FOREVER to fill the tank.
Started using the pumps where the semi's fill up. Those shoot like a firehose!
Only took about a dozen fillups, and suddenly the tank was filling up just as fast as that pump could put it out! Guess the extra pressure cleared the problem with the vent.
Worked on both tanks.

Ford also changed the fill necks with the OBS.... All of our bricks you had to dribble fuel in. I put 10 bucks in the 89 we had and it took several minutes. But the 92 we had the big nozzle would work, just not on full blast, and the small nozzle was fine. (My preferred station has 1 on-road diesel pump, one side is a big nozzle, the other is a small nozzle...) My 03 Excursion, it will use the large nozzle cranked wide open. That will pump 40+ gallons in there in a flash. I've filled the Excursion with 40 gallons, faster than one of my gassers with 20.....
With the vans though, I have no idea.... they have always been Ford's "red-headed stepchild"... who knows, they may still be the early 70's "regular gas" fill necks...... remember, back when you had to specify "regular" or "unleaded"...... or some places Ethyl...... or at Sunoco, turn the knob on the side of the pump.......

Dodge was similar. The 1978 van dash design update was used all the way until somewhere around 1996.
