Loose column SHIFTER even w/ tightening bolts and replacing bushings - SOLVED

Hey folks,
So the shifter is loose in the ole ferd, figured I'd tighten the bolts under the dash to fix it. Nope, still loose. So I dropped the steering column and replaced the bushings in the shift tube. Nope, still loose. The shifter itself where it attaches to the column is very loose at the base, almost like the mounting point at the base has worn to the point the shifter is sloppy. Any advice how to fix this? She shifts fine but it bugs the crap outta me as I've got literally 2mm of play.

Just a suggestion here. If the shifter attaches like the late 70's dent sides' shifters did, then it's held in by a rolled pin. Maybe you could knock it out, drill the holes bigger and put a bigger pin in?

There are a couple of little 3/8" square, gray rubber bushings in the column by the shift lever - did you replace those? I replaced the ones in the column of my truck about 8 years ago and that helped.

Found the solution to my issue. I needed the shift tube damper/bushing. Looks like this. This is for a super duty but fit my 94 perfect. This one is rubber but there are also plastic ones. Instantly firmed the shifter right up.

I never had that issue, my shifter just had a stupid amount of play in it.
