Ok so today I jumped at a good deal on an 06 jetta tdi it came into the shop smoking black and low on power running rough well I hooked it to the scanner an all that can up was a maf code p1010 I think anyways I start looking and notice a bit of chuff out the intake I told the guy the news that it wasn't a cheap fix and he offered the car for cheap well I didn't call the wife and wen to the bank and pulled a couple hundred bucks out payed the guy got all the paperwork in order so fast forward to this evening I tell the wife I have to go get the (new) Jetta well she popped a gasket and may have hit the dog with her crutch needless to say I need to get this car in running order to cool the flames at home so has anyone ever seen a 06 Jetta chuff out the intake and roll coal and only throw a maf code

make sure the intercooler hoses are all tight , check airflow restrictions .... if you can slide a swab down the intake manifold - it's quite common for later model crd to "gum up" the intake as a mixture of oily vapours combined with hot egr will cake themselves onto the manifold .... the best way to fix is remove the manifold and "degunge" it with bottle brushes , oven cleaner , degreaser etc.

Really common here with all our *** diesel utes

There’s aftermarket billet cams/etc that fix the factory issue. Should be under the lemon laws if you ask me.

Sounds like a classic PD TDI Cam issue. Pull the valve cover and inspect the cam/lifters. My bet, a lifter has been eaten. Might as well get a timing belt kit in there while you are at it.

Same thing happened to my 04.

Your wife is upset cuz you took $300 to buy a $3000 car (once fixed up)? Tell her to chill. I guarantee you she's spent more on coffee in the last year than you spent on that tdi

Lol exactly I think her biggest issue is I didn't tell her and we have a parking issue starting to happen at the house oh did I mention I own 12 acres lol also she thaught it needed a motor

So long as it's solid (and cheap!) I've been looking for a Jetta TDI (manual). It's either that or I drive my 86 F250 around w/ a C6... It make me cry to go get fuel.
