On a 7.3 non-turbo were is the best place to install the probe?
I've read a few post that said driver side between the last 2 cylinders on top of the manifold.
I have nothing to base this on but I would think right past the manifold would be better. (top of the Y pipe)

If I ever put a turbo on the truck will the probe need to be moved?

Has anyone tried these meters? I like the idea of being able to set an alarm.

Thanks

So what is a safe range for EGT?
The truck is used to pull my camper and that's it.
I know pulling is going to give me a higher EGT.

Smolkin have heard any good or bad thing about the meter?
That's a nice price thanks for the link

I was just going to try my luck with it, haven't heard anything good or bad. I think a member or two here might have one, not sure. I liked the price and that I can get a green one to match the OEM inst lights, that's all. But I'm not getting one yet b/c I'm still sorting out my gps...doing whole system manual and making up a new gp harness right now, still waiting on the dual-coil ZD9s to arrive. If you get this pyro before I do, let me know how it performs!

Hey mikerson
I've not installed one yet.
Had to spend about about 800 last week on a camping trip. 5 new tires for the camper and a new clutch master cylinder
So the truck upgrades and to get moved WAY down the list
Once I get it installed I'll do a write up

1100 is a good limit. Alluminum melts somewhere just above that, which is where this number comes from. The fact that we do have piston cooling jets does allow us to go a little higher. Many have gone to 12 or 1300. The problem is, nobody knows just how long you can really afford to hang out there. If you have an oil temperature gauge as I do, you can really watch the oil temp go up, which in turn raises the water temp, as the oil cooler tries to deal with all the fried oil.

I've got an ISSPRO pyro that I installed last year, and I can run at 1000-1050 all day. I try not to go above 1100; but I have had my foot in the gas a little too far, not been paying attention to my pyro, and look down and realize I'm at 1200-1250. As soon as I recognize this, I let off the fuel and let my temps return to 1000-1050. So far so good.

So what can be done to help keep the temp down?
only thing I can think is open up the pipes.
