    86/87 swap

    I'm considering building another project truck and have some tech questions. I have an 87 250 4x4. Looking at an 86 350 DRW 4x2. Will my 87 front axle and steering bolt right in the 86?? Will my C6 trans case bolt to the ZF5 trans?? I don't know if the body was the only change for the 87 model.

    NOT FOR DEISELS???

    I recently got a really good deal on a Fisher snow plow and I am looking into doing a 2"-3" body lift on my 250. On both projects I see in manufactures notes "Not for diesels". Any idea why?? Am I missing something?? Why would it matter if the truck is a diesel??

    Ambulance 7.3

    I just bought a complete 7.3 with 21,000 miles [???] It came from a '92 ambulance. Doesn't look to be many issues to putting it in my '87 truck/C6. Would this engine have different specs than any other 7.3 ? No issues putting the Banks on it ?

    Best Overdrive Unit???

    My next project is an overdrive for the C6. I found a Doug Nash unit and I found a few Gearvender units out there. The D.N. has an asking price of $650 which is cheaper than any of the GV units so far. Price is not really my concern though. Does either one seem to be better than the other?

    Injector o-rings

    I need to replace the o-rings on 3 of the injectors/return lines. I'm gonna do all of them. I did my 88 years ago. Easy fix but I don't remember where I bought them.cookoo. Can I get them anywhere besides the IH dealer?

    INSTALLING GAUGES

    I'm putting the manual gauges in my 6.9 this weekend. I think on the left head at the front is the temp. sensor. Am I right? If I unplug it the electric gauge goes to "0". And where is the oil sensor? Back of the block?:dunno

    Another tranny question

    I have a 87 with a C6. Did they put a AOD with a idi? Or would I have to go to a ZF5 to get the overdrive? That sounds like alot of work and expence.

    6.9 started stalling out yesterday

    Yesterday morning the truck started stalling out when I let off throttle quick. It does it at idle and road speed. If I let off easy it does ok. I changed fuel filter today and it made no difference. Any suggestions? All part of getting an old truck.LOL!! I'll get it right in time. I still like...

    Electric fan ??

    Has anybody tried an electric fan on 6.9 turbo? Would it cool enough or should I leave the mechanical fan on it? Just thinking of free horsepower.

    Tach won't work

    This '87 I just got needs a little {very little } TLC. One issue is the tach won't work right. It only goes up to about 1000-1100 or not at all. Loose wire maybe? The sensor is on the pump, correct?

    7.3 injection pump

    Just bought it saterday. Owner said pump was bad so he took it off. was gonna try rebuild kit but I think I'll just put new one on it. New pump with warranty just seems way to go. I'll get some pics of the old "fixer-upper" asap. Only paid $800 for it so I can put some cash into it and not be hurt
