I used three super large sized wire ties as a temporary measure which have held up quite well. They may become permanent at some point.
I've seen someone use a couple of steel bands like what is used in shipping large crates too.
My 6.9 NA truck cruises in the 600 to 900 range depending on the load, and incline of the road. But on a long steep hill with the foot feed buried, I can hit 1200 very easily. I usually try to lightly back off if I can, or downshift to drop the temps.
Plastic sleeve
Yes, I agree. Mine was getting a bit sketchy-looking and I removed it with no problems. There was a part to my speed control system attached to it but that no longer worked so I ditched all that too.
Electrical wiring
I had a lot of problems with mine. I had missing grounds to the dashboard frame and a lot of dirt, grease, and corrosion at the connector plugs that all of the sensors plug into. Cleaning the connectors gave me the biggest improvement. No my gauges all work fine. I added some...
Clean your connectors
I cleaned all associated connectors, rewired the ground, and my blower perked up quite a bit. I also sealed all of the ducts with weather seal foam and brought my heater system up to a respectable degree of performance. It is worth a try!
Power pack
I looked into this. K&N has a filter that is slightly taller in stock, so the air cleaner lid does not seal at the top. It works, but it is noisy as heck and annoying to me. The throttle response of the truck definitely improved when opening up the intake, and the truck certainly...
I have a NA 6.9l and an isspro mechanical pyrometer. I can get that sucker up to 1200 easily by flooring the vehicle up a hill. (Yeah... hills in Colorado are pretty tall!)
Great picture.
That is a great picture. Some of the late 20th century fully MECHANICAL systems like the roosa-master pump are truly marvels of mechanical engineering.
Hall of shame
Yes, I will check out the hall of shame before buying anything. My pump was rebuilt last year so I would really hate to be replacing it..... I just cannot take my 35 miles per hour top speed in third gear any longer! The original ford spec pump would get me to 45 in third gear...
Min/max governor
I am not sure if the governor spring only controls the minimum and maximum RPM. or if it also may shifts the power curve a bit as well. I have read conflicting reports on the internet about this.
Personally I don't see how the governor spring could effect the power band...
Hello,
I am in need of a governor spring from a GM 6.2l injection pump. Does anyone know where I can buy one? Or would anyone happen to have a scrapped out pump that they would be willing to sell the governor spring from? I would be willing to pay a reasonable amount for such a spring.
Thanks!
Hello,
I have a 1983 Ford 6.9l that has a 1986 engine installed in it. It has an injection pump for an "International "S" engine installed in it and so has the governor speed set at 2750 RPM. I believe that I would be better served with a ford spec'd injection pump.
As you might imagine the...
Fuel hose
I used plain old sae30R7 fuel hose because my fuel lines were rusted out and I have had no problems at all. I am using the standard mechanical fuel pump. I did away with the electronic fuel switching and went with manually operated fuel valves.
Can you siphon fuel out from under...
My 6.9L NA truck has a recently rebuilt IP and it does not smoke at all under normal driving conditions. I like it that way, no smoke = an efficient burn with little waste fuel.
