magnetic crank sensor.
i think i need one.but i don't know for sure.id like to test it before i buy it.
i know that sounds risky.but i payed 250$ already, and don't have a working meter.i can't just buy a probe and hope it fixes my problem lol.
i have 3 lumy probes.id like to keep two,but id be willing to trade one of them for a working crank sensor if it makes my meter work.

.........
option two.
could someone test my crank sensor for me with a known to be working snapon mt480? or if the crank sensors are the same as the mt1480 - think they are? could try it with their meter please.
i'll pay shipping both ways.
this would at least tell me if my crank sensor is bad or not and get me started in the right direction.
what a hassle this has become.
help!:dunno

look at this nice new shiny lumy probe in the center.
works great.well they all do.but i'll trade the new one for a working magnetic pickup.
the chrome ones are for the 6.9/7.3 idi MT160's.
the black one is for the old chevy MT161.
so if you have the chevy and need a probe,i'll swap ya for this one.
they seem to both work for 7.3l iv noticed.
who the heck is going to have a extra crank sensor though is going to be my problem.:rotflmao oh man.this is gunna cost me so much i wished i just went with the damn kentmore.

feel free to make an offer for a lumy probe too! it will help me cut my loses.
you don't see these little buggers for sale very often!
but i really just want to end up with a working meter so i can time my truck. sometime this century would be good lol.

bump.still waiting to time my truck.
someone, anyone? no one seems interested in even getting a price on one yet.:(

if anyone could provide info on which crank sensors will work for the mt 480 that also would be helpful.
for example, will the rotundra one work? do the mt 1480 share the same crank sensor part #'s?
anything at all for price, sale, rent, info will help me out.

my mt 480 appears to work.according to the directions,im getting a full scale reading due to no magnetic pickup single.

Joe shoot me a price please.i can decide if it's worth the risk or not to just buy it and see what happens at least.id really appreciate it.your meter not working at all,at least provides a little hope that the pickup may still actually work.
thanks.

can anyone tell for sure just by looking at the thing if its bad?
anyway.here's what im looking for.
the part #MT88A
could someone tell me if this is even the correct part # please?

i removed the tape where the po was a dummy and didn't take care to wire tie the wire away from the fan!ugg. how careless.
anyway,it appears to be solid under there, with just the outer sheath cut.

anything you know or can guess at,will help in my quest.

what i feel happened is the po went by the original directions and simply let the pickup ride on the balancer and this wore it out.
it appears a lot of mechanics did this back in the day,and there was a high failure rate on these.latter,it become known that you should allow a little space between the balancer so this wouldn't happen.however,i don't know what a working one with the proper probe tip should look like either.

also note,
i would like to send this to someone with a meter to test it.
as junk of course!!!!!! i don't have any plans to say,oh hey it was working when i sent it lmao.
im not looking to screw anyone.im just looking for help.honest help!!! iv already been screwed.
so if you have a way to confirm its broke, that would also help! if you find it works, that means iv got a dead meter.ouch.but at least id know.
i'll pay shipping both ways.again,im sending it as "not working" and will post this to anyone and everyone to see.wherever you want it posted.
don't offer if you do NOT have a fully 100% operational timing meter to verify though.that would be a waste of both of our time.

Looking at it right now. I have several of these meters mainly to keep as parts so my good one always works. PM me an address and I'll be happy to swap you the rpm end for a probe. I know for a fact mine works as it got used Wednesday to time the yard truck after I changed the IP. What sucks was having to borrow a probe of my snapon man to use it.
