Which oil?

What oil do you run in your TDI? I just changed the oil in ours for the first time last week. I went with Mobil Delvac 1. I am in Canada and I am amazed at how well this car starts. It cranks over like it's summer. Is it worth the extra expense?

I think the VW TDI really needs a good synthetic.....it's a relatively high RPM diesel with a ~5k rpm redline.

Anything turning that high needs a good oil.

I use Rotella-T full synthetic in my TDI.

The Cummins/Dodge gets Delvac 1300 - non synthetic.

I run Amsoil Series 3000 5W30 HDD in the 01 NB.Got over 60000 on it and it don't use any.

I am running AMSOil Series 30 Heavy Duty Diesel in mine.

I have just over 30K miles so far and changed to AMSOil from Valvoline at 10K ... so far so good.

I run AMSOil in my Truck as well (15W40 HD).

Very good stuff, very satisified.

I like Mobil 1 delvac when I can find it, Shell rotella T synthetic when I can't and only at the 12.88 price at wal-mart. I will not pay the 18.88 price for rotella t. For that price, I'll buy delvac mobil 1.

Some say the intake will stay cleaner with the delvac, but hard to tell if you use more than one brand of oil. Kevin
