What's wrong with this picture? (Brake rotor)

When I pulled the rotor today, I found a lot of grooves in the back of the rotor. The brake pads still have a lot of mileage on them, but I'm wondering if maybe the caliper is stuck. If it is, now might be a good time to get it fixed!

It looks like someone let the pads wear too far, scored it and just threw a new set of pads on and called it good. If it was something stuck in there it probably wouldn't have been over the whole surface.
I noticed it on the other thread as well.
In general if it mics out OK for thickness (remember the grooves) and the pedal doesn't pulsate (warped) you're probably good to go but you didn't hear that from me
Personally if it were mine and turning wouldn't clean it up I'd replace it.

4x4 truck, correct? I's suspect some dirt/mud got between the pads and the rotor, while you were just cruising, then when you applied the brakes it got compacted in the pads and started grinding on the rotors...

I know it's not warped. What is the minimum thickness on these rotors?

The thickness is stamped on the rotor. I think it is in mm.

What would you recommend? I can get it at NAPA tomorrow, when I get the new U-joint.

I just had to replace my drivers side rotor due to a sticking caliper. Pads were less than year old. It was a surprise for sure. The good news was that I got a rotor for $35. It wasn't necessarily a top quality rotor but since I couldn't get one that was known to be made in USA, (I tried to no avail) I just bought the one at Advance that was in stock. My .02 replace it.

Good work on the spindle removal. Mine was considerably more, interesting, lets say. And don't forget to replace the seals on the back side of the spindle while it's out.

I bought new spindle bearing kits, which included the seals.
