I think 20 is possible for any Cummins if driven right, the 12 valvers have the best potential to get great milage, my 01 gets 18-19 in mixed driving and it weighs in at 9660 so its heavy and I dont drive it lightly either, My wifes 04.5 gets 20-20.5 and aint broke in yet............gotta love these trucks

Welcome to the site Wycowboy! which town ya in?

Cheers, Kevin

Just did a 4500 mile trip @ 70-75 mph and averaged 21.9 mpg.
The worst tank I had was across KS with a head wind driving 75 mph I got 18 mpg

20-22 unloaded easy driving. I watch the wind and allow for it. it really makes a difference over 65. Straight pipe is now showing 1+ mpg across the board so dollar for dollar the best mpg improver. I have 2500 miles on it now and very carefully documented over the same road and very close conditions.

Inj are next. Then probably a mad ecm.

I changed fuel filters... no mpg change. since I run about 13 psi I didn't expect any.

Changed air filter...35% onthe gage....no change either. Maybe a little less smoke on hard runs.

2000 rpm is the sweet spot.

Winter grade ...at least the first level is in and mpg is off already by a solid 1-2. It dropped almost 5 by the time it got really cold last year.

My dads 99 24V gets 14 not towing on a good day and 10 or less towing  , its slightly modded and I dont know how he drives it but I do know he has a terrible appetite for speed and power, he is in the process of building a balanced, bored, nitrous injected 454 rat to stick in a 55 Chevy two door hardtop :D , maybe when he gets that thing on the road his mileage will improve on his Dodge :rotflmao ........... but his mileage is poor. He loves the truck/motor though :peelout .

My overhead computer says 25.1mpg, how accurate are those things? I have not checked it myself.

Not very.............

Only real way to check is to fill to run over, drive known number of miles and refill to run over and divide fuel consumed into miles driven.

My truck gets roughly 17mpg all the time! That is a mix of towing and driving her hard. She is also a 2wd dually with 3.55's and a auto!

Mine gets 17.5 at 75 mph, 65mph will get me 18.5
My wife managed to get 21.5 once, no more than 55mph and never over 10 psi boost for 1/2 tank of fuel cookoo
Mine would do 18.5 at 75 mph stock, I lost 1.5 when I got rid of the stock Michelins and another .5 with the 2.5" lift but gained back about 1 mpg with the EZ and 275 injectors, the BHAF made no change.
