It looks like a capacitor and is mounted by the voltage regulator. What does it do? Also, the wire is broken off, and I happen to also have an unused wire from the voltage regulator.. are They supposed to plug in to each other?

my guess would be something for the radio because you say it may have been connected to the regulator.Noise suppression???

Someone else mentioned it being a noise suppression for the radio. The other thing I read was a charge capacitor for the gauge lights, or something to do with regulating the charging. I'm really just wondering if the two wires are suppose to connect. I'm guessing they do but don't want to fry anything lol.

OK, so we aren't sure what it is exactly.. lol. How about the yellow wire from the regulator , anyone know where it plugs in?

I had the same unplugged yellow wire and capacitor looking thing with my 1G alternator. Swapped a 3G unit and never noticed any negatives from the change.

It is a noise suppressor to filter out AC signal from the power line to a stereo head unit or amp or an aftermarket 2 way radio.

I will see if I can locate the one in stock here for an example.
