So the plastic caps are brittle & I'm gonna replace them. In the process I took out the selonoid in picture n it was stuck. I tapped it n it was stuck down to the mounting plate with melted plastic.the blue wire is loose & plastic might have. Omega from around that. The black wire was stuck down & its somewhat loose. Do I need a new 1 ???Ones that say Beru, made in Germany. Motorcraft uses those and I have bought some NOS ones from ebay that had international packaging.
But there is a thing now, the Motorcrafts are being pirated with Motorcraft packaging, with cheap plugs inside. So it's a crap shoot now.
If you are still using the original automatic glowplug controller, you need to stick with the original Beru type plugs. If you have a manual button, you can experiment with different types of glowplugs.
The plastic pieces around the plug ins that go right on the glowplugs are important. They keep tension on the connection to the glowplug. Mine went bad also and it is partly the reason my glowplug system doesn't work sometimes. So the plastic caps are brittle & I'm gonna replace them. Are you really in love with the auto glowplugs? I am a fan of using a manual button. If you went to a manual button, all you would need to do is buy a replacement solenoid shown in your pictures, a pushbutton to mount inside the cab, and a little bit of wire. That should get your glowplugs cycling again manually.
If you want the auto feature, you will have to buy a whole new controller, and make sure all the glowplugs and the glowplug wiring is 100%. The auto controller will not work if the system is not 100% correct, which is why I do not like it.
