Water/fuel seperators....

FIRST OF ALL I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OF YOU!
THIS SITE WOULDNT BE WHAT IT IS WITHOUT ALL OF YOU GREAT FOLK.

i have gotten my 87 to run pretty good.
there are still a few issues i need to resolve.

i have a early 94 7.3 swapped out for my 6.9

my stock water/fuel seperator sucks! no...literally sucks.. air...
i can not find a replacement! not even through ford!

i believe that the 7.3 has one incorperated with the fuel filter, however i have no clue how to wire it in.

there are 2 wires on the W/F seperator of the 7.3 that i have not wired.
how do i go about switching?

It will work without any wires. If you want the Water In Fuel light to work, there's a little module that you need to wire up to the sensour in the bottom of the bowl. The big clunky sensour on the top that sticks out to the side is the for the "FUEL FILTER" indicatour, it's just a vacuum sensour that turns on the light when there's not enough pressure coming out of the filter.

Basically, the bowl sensour can only pass a tiny amount of current, so it needs to be hooked to a solid-state relay module that can pass enough current to trigger the "WATER IN FUEL" indicatour. You'll need this module, it's a small black box with four wires plugged in. One goes to constant power, one to ignition power, one to the fuel bowl sensour, and one to the indicatour. I haven't wired mine yet, so I do not know which wire is which. See the diagram labeled "Instrument Cluster" in this post for help:

If I were going to buy a new separator / filter I would use this one. Filters are like $8-10 they come out the top so you don't loose all the fuel when changing the filter so you don't loose prime. You don't need the wire hooked up because you can see the water through the clear bowl. Just my two cents

Your welcome. That 71 Camper Special in your sig. Is that the one with the spare stored in the side of the bed and the set back rear axle?

Did those Camper Specials come with the in-bed tool boxes? My 71 Camper Special did, but it had the spare in the normal spot.

No this CS has the tool box and the spare in the normal spot.

I believe it was only the Dentside (73-79) F-350 Camper Specials that were built like this, and it may have only been the early ones, 73-76 before the grill change. I have seen more that one, and all the ones I have seen are in the Early Dentsides......
