wait to start light not coming on

Hi fellas my wait to start light is not coming on all of sudden never had a problem. If anyone could give me some advice or maybe a diagram on where and what those wires on the controller relay do maybe ill bypass it or it could be a bad bulb in the dash. When i turn the key on, i hear the relay clicking away but before i take the dash apart i would like to check outsuide at the relay and please fill me in on that box under the relay i beleive thats the controler please help .thanks in advance. A little more info would help ensure the right answer, like what kind of truck you got? I'm going to guess it is a 92 or later, because Lady Moose has done the same thing, but keeps fixing herself before I can troubleshoot it. Don't be afraid to fill out a signiture.

Sometimes (once a month?) my WTS light never comes on but I hear the relay and can watch the voltage gauge and see the drop and slow rise, so I know it works. If i recycle the key it works fine.

update

Sorry guys 92 f 350 dually and you are rite it came back on and while it was out everything worked go figure, im thinking that it is at the bulb because i found the wire on the controller that calls in the ground for the light and this morning while the light on the dash wasnt coming on i reversed a test light at that wire on the controller had a buddy in the truck cycling the key and it was fine test light lit rite up and then went of like its supposed to. So ill take the dash apart pop the bulb out replace it rough up the contacts and fill you guys in, i have a bulb out in the dash any way it will give me a reason to fix it thanks again .Richie

My WTS light has only worked once in 3 years, I just listen for the relay to start clicking then start.

Yes I had problems with mine trying to decide when it should work. That's before I fixed it for good! May I suggest that you fellas havin problems check out the GP controller bypass article in the tech section.

I will also add that it has been a year since I've bypassed the controller, and I have had no problems, and my wait to start light still works when I push the button. On cold days I hold the button for a full 10-12 seconds and the ole girl fires right up. None of this turning the key off and on while praying stuff anymore.

my WTS light didnt work for a year and a half but the plugs and everything else worked.a month ago the plugs decided to not work.replaced all the plugs,still nothing.replaced the controller and the plugs and the WTS light now work.

Jeez that takes me back to high school. I had this friend that bought a 5 speed ******, back then they had an "upshift" light. Well the bulb was burned out and he didn't know when to shift (he wasn't so bright). So he replaced the bulb, and would wait till it came on to shift every time. (Keep in mind it was just an RPM activated light so it came on at a pretty high RPM).

Dang, on my '84 ****** very seldom did the light ever go off!

It's the ground. If mine does that, I unplug the delco plug at the controller, plug it back in, works fine. From what I remember, this wire grounds the WTS light turning it on when the controller is cycling. Ungrounds when it goes off.

We need to get these Ford test procedures from the book I have in the tech section. Mel, is there anyway to use documents scanned into Word, .pdf or whatever you want them in as a tech article? I bought this Ford service manual and have emailed copies to BUNCHES of people. Has some good simple test procedures in it for the controller, glow plugs etc.
