so my power steering pump is taking a :number2

perfect timing, because i have a new tensioner, and new vacuum pump to install.

i plan on running a hydroboost later on.

i found the complete F450 PSP and res for 60 bucks.

can the extra return line be capped for the time being?

The unused return line will have zero pressure. Might get a splash return but not any pressure from the other return line. Even some duct tape is enough to seal off whats not used till later.

Ford service manual shows bolth pumps are the same, just a different reservoir.
While were are on this subject I remember seeing in the ford manual that commercial superdutys and motorhome chassis of our era had a different steering box. It says it was a bendix C-300N. It looks like the same box , mounts the same 3 bolts. Manual says it is for vehicles with 6,000-9,000 LBS front axles so it must be a heavier duty steering box.
My questions are can it be used and is there an advantage to using it in a pickup.

Look at the orientation of the output shaft. Our light duty units come out of the bottom of the box. This heavier duty unit has the output shaft parallel to the mounting bolts. It would come out the side of the gear box. Probably has the pitman arm moving forward and backward similar to an old Chevy 4x4(I think).
