Have purchased a rolled '94 turbo idi truck to recover the engine and transmission/transfer case for another truck and want to do a compression check before pulling the engine to see whether it will require top end work or a rebuild before being able to use it. Have removed the air intake/cleaner assembly but it doesn't appear possible to get at some of the glow plugs to remove them to use the compression guage without removing some of the fuel injection plumbing and the turbo assembly. Can anyone advise?

It is a tight fit back under the turbo but guys do it all the time with a 1/4 inch drive socket set.

If getting the glow plugs out without removing the fuel lines or the turbo is tight, is it possible to get the compression checker in and hooked up?

And a flat bladed screwdriver to lift the ring on the quick connect while pushing down on the adapter. And with your third hand ....
