Is there anywhere to get a comprehensive history of turbo development for each of the three manufacturers for IDI turbos? I'm toying with the idea of buying a used one as opposed to a new one and rebuild it. Is rebuilding one even suggested for the seasoned home mechanic. I see them for sale all the time, however, I don't always know what I'm looking at (design wise and application) or what to look for. Both Banks and ATS have changed their designs numerous times over the years. I'm looking for descriptions or pictures, component changes, functionality changes, printed manuals, etc. Seems every time I see one for sale, it looks different than the last one I looked at. I'm really interested in Hypermax and there is virtually no information out there about them (and their website is terrible). My second choice would be ATS and their website is even worse as far as turbo info. Banks would be my third choice if they offered a basic turbo kit like the Hypermax.
