TTB front end

Read another complaint about the TTB front ends, got me thinking. These truck are 20+ years old. I would like to know how many people here have ever driven a new, not rebuilt, but factory new TTB equipped Ford pickup, unmolested and drove like the factory intended.

I changed almost every wearable part in my TTB, and after measuring and adjusting the caster/camber, mine wore tires very well and rode, well I guess it rode like a 3/4 ton 4wd with an add a leaf

IMHO, the Dana 60 is an awesome front axle, but the TTB isn't as bad as it's reputation.

I rebuilt the one in my Ford... Handled and rode awesome Aligned perfectly too. Most people are just so in love with a Dana 60 they can't see the potential in a TTB. If it was as bad as people make it out to be Ford wouldn't have used it for as many years as they did.

For moderate to mild use a fully functioning and properly maintained ttb is a good functioning front end. Stronger than the ******** a arm of some of the other brands...and if you need want more beef...then go to 60...but worn springs, and old ball joints and bushings tend to make a ttb a problematic axle.

They work well when working right and in good operational order. snow plows..no problem...4 wheeling no problem...

I btw have not driven a new off the lot TTB truck since the 80's ROFL

We have some newer van body buses that have TTBs in them, same problems ours have, pain to work on, bad tire wear. There 2012 models and weve already done a couple sets of front tires (original rears), hard to get up in the air as you have to do it one side at a time.

I have had numerous TTB trucks, new and low mileage. They are pretty much the same from day one. They are tough and last a long time, but they start eating tires from the start. You must rotate the tires often on these trucks.

Mine drives perfectly straight and dont wear tires. Ive put 19k on it in less than 2 years and rotated the tires once. It tracks straighter than my 02 jeep and handles bumps, dirt roads etc just fine. Rides great too

Im kind of with the crowd that they aren't THAT bad.

Granted mine is low miles but mine isn't to bad, it is honestly better then I thought it was going to be when I first went to drive it and having never driven one of these trucks before.

I think the RBV and 1/2 ton TTB with coils is an awesome system. Rides great, great articulation, and plenty strong.

The F-250 TTB isn't bad, though mine was completely worn out. I found a D60 for 400 bucks, which was much cheaper than I could have rebuilt all the TTB parts for, so I went that way, and have a better system for what I want to do. No camber changes as the truck is loaded down, no funky tire wear.

I got my '86 truck practically new and it's always driven very nicely. Still does, even though the front end is now a bit loose. No abnormal tire wear... ever. Back in '94, we considered trading it in the a second gen Dodge Cummins. The newer truck had a lot of nice features vs out old Ford but, you know what, the old TTB truck rode MUCH better and that what changed our mind about buying new.
