Truck acting a little funny latelly

At above 65mph I get a bad vibration in my truck. I don't know if its just my tires/rims, or something worse like transmission...

Well today I was going up a little hill, my truck up shifted cause I stomped it a little and when it up shifted it felt like my truck fell on its face. Don't quote me n this but it kinda felt like it was slipping. When I got to the top of the hill it just didn't feel right, kinda hard to describe it felt like I was pushing something with my truck, a lot of resistance maybe?

Well after a while the truck felt normal, then I got into town and stopped at a stop sign and my truck started sputtering, I could see the RPM go up and down a bit, but it didn't die. When I gave it some gas the problem went away.

I don't know if my truck is mad at me or what. I drove it to work and back yesterday without any problems. Oh btw the fuel filters were actually changed this past Friday.

How old is the IP?

Im not to sure, Ive only owned this truck for about a year. I hope its not the IP! Anyway to test?

The vibration sounds like something different than the falling-on-face issue. The vibration could be a U-Joint, carrier bearing, tire, or something bigger like a torque converter. The u-joint that has gone bad the most on my IDIs is the very rear-most one. The reason I suspected the IP was because you said you have a fresh fuel filter, and if you were getting air or starving it for fuel, the truck would surge very noticeably before it fell on it's face. something sticking or bypassing inside the IP could cause your truck to not have any power.

I'm just hoping the problem isn't something big like transmission going bad!!! What are some tests I should do to track down the problem?

Also when I was climbing the hill I didnt notice and bouncing of the rpm gauge either.

Think I figured out the high speed vibration, pretty sure it's the carrier bearing. I can wiggle it pretty good. I do have a spare but the inner part of the bearing is to small.

Well it's definatly a fuel problem...just died on me on the road! Looked at goldenrod on the frame anf it was only half full...i let fuel pump run to fill it back up. Hit schrader valve on fuel tower and got er runing again. With it running and pushing the schrader valve in I'm not getting anything....I'm at the store now and am kind of afraid to drive it back home.

Electric. Im thinking it's not keeping up with the motor. Since it is draining my golden rod filter. Really des it bad going up hill. Killed it again on way home...had to let pump run with truck off to refill and to purge all the air out.....with it running im not geting anything out of the schrader valve, but I do get all fuel when the truck isnt runing and the key on.

What level are the fuel tanks. Remember these tanks loose the ability to pull the last 1/4 tank because the pickups break off. If either tank fills up after you run out of fuel and it only takes around 12 gallons... Then you have the pickup issue. If you still have the mechanical lift pump it may be time for a new one. Or this is a great time to install an electric lift pump. Its one of the best things many of us has done for realibility...

It's an electric pump. I've fixed the pick up tube a while back. It's seeming like the pump just isnt keeping up. I'm going to put back on the mechanical pump and see. Also I was running a cheap orielly brand tyoe diesel fuel pump.

What Would cause a little sputtering when going up hill? I have it happen when only going up hill. I switched tanks, went back to mechanical pump, and temporarly bypassed my goldenrod filter.

The electric pump is prob whooped. It was not really big enough anyway. The factory pumps are pretty good.
