well , besides the possible head cracks or bad gasket on my IDI... now my 2002 Powerstroke trans light and check engine light came on while driving to work. Its a 14 mile drive. Fluid is good not burned or low. Stranded with 4 miles to go should i let it cool then drive it ?
Got a Mishimoto trans cooler in the mail could it be clogged ?

Yes it did and i pulled over immediately and called a coworker for a rescue ride. Let it sit a few hrs and just drove it 4 miles to the base and didnt overheat. I heard these trucks may have a trans fluid inline filter ?
Anyone know where on the truck ?
I just bought a replacement for it .

Stock it shouldn't.
Trackspeeder and snicklas have more experience with those 4r100's.

I'm not sure about the 4R100 behind the 7.3, but the 6.0 5R110 does indeed have a transmission filter inline. It's on the passenger side, behind the front bumper, on the framerail. It's a cartridge filter like everything else on the 6.0......

Saw some youtube vids and someone with a 1999 powerstroke put on a mounting tutorial so i dont see why it wouldnt work with a 2002 7.3 turbo Powerstroke.
Anyone know the hose diameter to the little trinket trans cooler they put on the 2002 ?
I am putting on a mishimoto trans cooler that i got today and if i could do the filter at the same time that would be just Capitol !

First off the tranny temp gauge is nothing more than an idiot light with a needle. I would put a real gauge on it.

If your 4R has an inline filter, the tranny was replaced at some point. Ford and many shops install this filter to warranty their transmissions. You will find this filter installed after the coolers. If you are installing a new cooler, install the filter before your new cooler. This will protect your investment.
Periodically check the filter for leaks. Sometimes they can crack. Not to often, but it can happen.

Seeing how the check engine light has come on. Scan it for codes. See what it comes up with.
