Does anyone know the tow capacity for a 84 f250 4spd 4wd 3:55 gears ? I am thinking about a trip with my 27' travel trailer which weighs in at about 6,800 lbs.

ummm....
6800lbs? that's pretty light for a 27 footer. I know with my added garbage and tools, I don't get out without hitting the 10k weight mark with any receiver mount trailer. Yup, I pack heavy. You shouldn't have any issues with the weight you're pulling outside of the 3.55 gears. They are a little light for pulling heavy. Just watch your temps and EGT's and you should be ok;Sweet

Thanx Towcat . I will hope for the best . The dry weight sticker on the trailer says 4410 lbs. I took it over the scales with all the tanks empty and it was 6800 . I would bet with water and more stuff packed it would hit 7500 easy. It's pretty light with no slide-out .

FWIW, I put a heavy (older) camper (around 2000 lbs fully loaded) in the bed of the 2WD truck in my sig and hooked up my Jeep on a tow dolly behind it (around 4500 - 5000 lbs) and it did just fine. Mine has the C6 3 speed auto which has the same 1:1 high (3rd) gear ratio as your T-19 4 speed. It did just fine towing the whole load from western WA to Moab Utah and back. And that includes crossing several mountain passes in the 4000 - 6000 foot range.

Got lugged down a little slow on a few of those passes, but overall it did fine.

I would say you will be just fine towing that load, but dont be supprised when you get passed up left and right on the grades. I know for a fact that my truck has towed 8000+ multiple times, and did just fine.

Good point, if you are going to be going up a long grade, drop down to third gear and get the RPM's up. Otherwise you will start going up and and will lose alot of speed until you downshift, and then you will probably stay at what mph you downshifted at. Just keep the RPM's high when going up steep grades.

Shouldn't be too many steep grades where I'm going. Staying in michigan so no mountains. I need to find a deal on a turbo or some way to kick the wife out of the duramax.
