towing question

i just bought a 2000 f250 ext cad 4x4 with a v10 and auto, i was wondering if pulling in od is going to hurt it or should i take it out of od? i pull a 16ft car trailer and a 36 ft gooseneck horse trailer, thanks for the help

I would keep it out of OD if i was you, thats why there is a towing feature built into the tranny. you probably wouldnt do any damage to the motor or tranny itself but you would be wasting more fuel while the tranny is goin in and out of OD. OD is essentially a cruising gear not a towing gear. made for max MPG's and obviosuly you aint gonna get very good MPG's pulling heave trailers.
