Well depending on what you feel you can afford there is Ebay but... You get some really bad deals there. Some jerk had a kent moore meter up for bids and I won it. Only to find out the meter didn't work.... The top of the lid was broken off and it was not described in the description plus it was hidden in the pics... So I protested it. Got lots of crap about flys and honey. I wanted all my costs plus a return shipping paid by the creep. In the end I got what I asked for but I had to send the meter back in the same box with the same packing that he sent it to me with... Now thats just plain *ucked up right there... I did have everything saved because of the broken crap I got from him. Then I had to send it back. Wait for him to say it was ok and as shipped. Change you feedback to positive and only then would he refund my money thru paypal..... Like that was going to happen on my end... So I kept the broken meter and sold off the snapon probes that are no longer available. I see these snapon meters on ebay all the tim without these lumi probes up for bids..... Pity the fool that buys them thinking they are getting a meter that works. The kent moore meter probes are available but are almost $300.00..... Be careful looking at ebay meters.... Most here will tell you to just buy a ferret timing meter. They are new and very popular around here. Ask some questions about them here...

What i gather from reading the product description, all i need in addtion to the ferret is a regular timing light. I am correct?

Close, you need an advance type timing light, the kind that you can set the advance on, either a dial or digital and preferably a high quality one because you have to get an accurate reading at 2000 rpms and many timing lights will misfire approaching 2000rpms. Craftsman, MSD and of course, the Ferret timing lights are all very good choices that consistantly test ok through the entire rpm range.

you'll need a timing light with an advance dial. I have a digital light and it reads the rpm along side the advance numbers. A digital light makes it very nice, if your budget allows pick one up, you won't regret it.
