I sanded the area on the damper with the line
Again, I'm fairly sure if you take off the spring from the outside of the probe you will get a better fit and finally get a true reading as long as the damper isn't covered in gunk or corrosion. I tried cleaning out the probe receptacle with a drill bit, small wire brush, and sand paper but in the end that little spring was the whole problem.if the magnetic probe is not close enough to flywheel or is not connected properly, timing unit will display the correct RPM but the degrees shown will be the negative value of the offset programmed into the unit ".
