Tags on the Axles

could anyone tell me what this means ? on the front D44 is shows 3 . 07 E8TA RC 610310-1 and the rear 8.8 shows S836F 08 88 4A06

means there is 3.07 gears
belive the resr is just a part number.

Yes. You cant really run seperate ratios in the front and rear without noticing.

What would be the best for my setup since i will be re gearing........... i will be using a ZF5 as well and maybe hauling light loads but gets good mileage.....3.55? or 3.73?

I love 4:10s with a zf-5. 3:55s get great milage but seemed to high geared for pulling my horse trailer

I pull a 16 ft bumper pull trailer and 2 horses. 3:55s seemed to High geared. With 4:10s zf-5 and 2wd I could get up to 18 mpg.

wow....3.07 open carrier......alot of guys would kill for 3.55's, you can more than get away with it with a ZF...

just means no limited slip or locker. just a regular open rear, one wheel peeler.

I would go with 4.10's for what you need. I loved 4.10's in my gas truck and my diesel will most likely see 4.10's now. Ill most likely do a full locker too.

3.73:1 with a ZF-5 was a sweet combination on one of my former trucks.
