Tach all over the place!

Brothers,
I noticed it a little over the last couple of weeks, but yesterday big time. My tach is all over the place (never high). I suspect it is as simple as tightening the two end fittings. Might it be something else?

Tach sender

You could try cleaning the tach sender the big nut with twowires on top right side if the oil fill/ip gear housing. But that will usually only last a week or two. Replacment sender cost me $40 I think it was last fall. E5TZ-17B384-A TACH SENSOR ASY

While u are cleaning it take a ohm meter and see what it is reading, I cant rember the range it is suppost to be in, Mel will know when he gets a second to chime in.

Lucky! I got bent over for $110 cdn for mine from the dealer 'cause all the parts stores were looking at me like I was crazy when I was asking for one.
Mine was doing the same thing, working some times, reading low others, not working at all... New sensor fixed it right up.
