has any of you swapped a newer front end sheet metal on your 99-03 trucks?
cant stop thinking about this next build.

i do not want to go full on custom like my 87, but i am still going to do the 6 door.
that job isnt very hard.

thinking i may put a new front end on it.

havnt done much researching or even searching for that matter.

what have you guys done, seen?

looks like the grille and headlights are the only change.
as i find the 2011+ trucks kinda ugly,
this wouldnt be a bad mod.
may be looking into this deeper.

I would dig deeper..... it is more than just the grille and headlights. For a 100% swap, I think you have swap the bumper, basically everything below the hood and in front of the fenders. The 99-04 grills is shorter than the 05-07 grille. There are many that have just swapped the grille and lights, but you have to trim some off the bottom of the grill for it to fit.

Personally, I don't care for the 05-07 front.... I like the 03-04 the best. They have the clear, non-faceted headlight lens, and the clear park/turn with an amber bulb. I am one of the odd ones out there, if I ever bought an 05-07, I would swap an older front in, instead of the other way around.........

the biggest issue is that my bumper wont fit the 05+ with what you are describing.
guess ill just slap a new billet grille in it and call it good.

consider this hole dug, and filled back in.
need to stop thinking of ways to modify the next one....
or ill never get it done.

Or, if you want something different on a truck, go find these........

The 99-04 Excursions have a different grille on them. The "higher end" packages like the Eddie Bauer and Limited have a body color grille also..... in 05 they got the same front end as the pickups......

I like the "all clear" lights on the 03-04. They were the shortest run of lights on the 99-07 body....

99-02 were the Faceted headlight, and amber faceted marker (like your SD has now)

03-04 were a clear lens, faceted mirror headlight, and a clear, faceted marker with an amber bulb (like my Ex has)

05-07 were the complete change in light and grille......

That would be a different/unique look on a pickup. The 03-04 lights are very bright, and project the light well..... they will light field to field and quite a ways out on a 2 lane "state road".... I can try and snap some pictures if you like...........

I like the one with the expanded metal behind. Centurion painted mine and it's peeling.

I need new headlights too, mine shines Yellow, can't clean them, color is inside them.
