OK, I freely admit that I am a diesel dummy. Henry (7.3 IDI) was bought to work and work he does but a few extra ponies on the long hills would be nice. I see turbo information everywhere, ho-hum. Can a supercharger be added instead? I have a Vortex set up from a big block GM long since smoked looking for a new home..... As an avid "do it to yourselfer" I can't leave well enough alone..... I am sure brackets and a belt drive could be mocked up and an intercooler from an Isuzu NPR might work...

Tell me I'm crazy?

hell....at least you have the most expensive parts already. Can't hurt to try something like that out at this point. there has been debate in the past over putting in a detroit style blower. IMHO not a practical idea whatsoever due to the IP occupying the same area as the blower. A centrifigal type blower would make more sense and practicality, but you need to consider new pullies since it needs to "come on" right off idle to 3600rpm. BBC works a little further up the rpm scale. overall, this sound like a real interesting project to follow ;Sweet

now thats a great idea. Yeah i can see where pulleys and operating rpm range are concerns, remember the gas motor opperated at twice the rpm your idi is. So the blower will have to be pulleyed (real word?) too adjust for that. Theres no reason it can't work, there we're some old big rigs that came with roots style blowers. water/**** may be a good way to fight egt's on a budget. ALSO remember that egt's are not going to affect a non-existant turbo, so with a free flowing exhaust you may not have as many worries.
