Joe the new injectors still may have a small effect on the timing...I was under the impression you had gotten a Ken's turbo pump...and installed it with the INJS, my bad.

an easy one is since you have free flowing exhaust listen to the tailpipe and listen for a chuff chuff chuff, or remove the intake filter housing and listen for a woof woof woof sound, both while the engine is running. Tailpipe chuff sounds will narrow it down to exhaust valvetrain or the intake woof sound will result in intake valvetrain, but usually a fuel related problem will be coming out the exhuast end.

Joe, Regretibly, I'm too jammed up to assist you guys tomorrow. I've got all 3 of my diesels down with some kind of in-progress repair or mod. Pre Rally mania I'm afraid. That, and tomorrow morning I'm squeezing in the purchase of another IDI. I'll be balls to the wall all weekend working on my stuff, however, that said, if he needs to get it timed, and wants to drive it up, I'll be more than happy to make time to do that. I'll put you guys to work doing something for me, whilst I do the timing. I think my buddy wants to come down with his freightliner for an air horn install too.

How in G-d's name is he gonna get a Freightliner down your driveway? I was only there once, but I remember discussing me bringing my Peterbilt & being thankful I didn't try that as I drove down the road & driveway in the IDI. I would like to get it timed but I'm already in semi-hot water for not attending to the honey-do list. So a road trip is out for this weekend.

Is the woofing noise at idle or lugging? Anyways, besides the little problems is it worth the money?

Joe, I had the ticking for quite some time before it let go. It was more noticable at higher RPM's. It turned out to be the pin came out of the roller on the lifter, and then it caused a miss. If you pull the Valve cover you can check for play at the rockers. I was aslo told by the IH dealer that the rocker pivots are know to wear excessively and cause play that results in a similar situation. Do you want me to stop by? I have been loaded at work with camp about to open, baling hay, and running the rodeo buck outs, but i can try to get by. The family is out of town next week.

Thanks for the offer. I have a bunch going on this week after work, but I may set something up w/ you to stop by on my way home from the MIL new house in Shrewsbury. I come home by way of 851 and what ever road Higgins is on, so I pass Grave Run. Or, you are welcome to drop by tomorrow eve.

Scott heard it yesterday. I had an exhaust leak that is now better, but still there at the DP/exhaust pipe. No real chugging, just a distinct tick. I still have the hard start when she is cold. I went to drop the filter to see if I was loosing my vacuum in the fuel line, but at 1/2 a turn I strted taking a bath, so she holds fuel. I'm wondering if I lost a GP. The WTS stays on for a good while. I'll test my theory tomorrow and have the wife plug in the heater around 3, I'll then start her (or try) when I get home at 6.

On a side note, Apextrans thinks she runs good.

Given my current love / hate relationship w/ the truck and getting through the pre rally jitters, any and all compliments help!

Can't believe I had to use a step ladder to work on your truck! Glad the pump and injectors are in!
