spinner II

What would be the prospect of installing a spinner II on a 92 7.3 idi? It now has a bypass filter (10 micron) accessed the 1/4 inch plugs on side of block. But the spinner II may need 1/2 inch tubing. Is there 1/2 inch plugs on the side of the oil filter housing? Is anyone using one of these or maybe a dieselcraft? Is it worth it to keep the oil that clean?

It does look interesting, but I don't have any on-board air in my truck. They do note that you can use a low pressure air valve cartridge if your engine has a turbo. Mine does not have that either

It doesn't need air, it's powered by oil pressure. Definatly worth looking into.

If that thing works the way they say it does, then you can bet that it has to be able to drain faster than it fills, otherwise, there is now way in heck that it's going to spin at 6K immersed in motor oil. So, that would present a rather difficult mounting and plumbing challenge. I'd still go with another FS-2500. Oh, and if you buy one now, you get a poster of "Christine the filter girl"

well i shot them an email asking what it would take to put a system in my 94 and what i would be looking at for cost. we will see......couldent find anything on the filter girl though

I beg to disagree TonkaDoc....Take a look at the service bulletin for them. All 4 models require air input of 35-125 psi (very low cfms).

Maybe I'm missing another part where it says you can run it without. I'll go back and recheck the service bulletin.

I may have missed something too as I didn't get into the service bulletins just read the ad on the product page. Prolly need to look at the instructions for the models listed for the Navistar 6.9 & 7.3 to really find out the scoop.

I believe what the deal is that if the unit is below the point of re-entry to the engine, then it has a float/valve to air pressurize the oil back to the pan. In the case where you could mount it above the return hole, then it would naturally drain back in.http://www.dieselproducts.com/spinner/sp_works.html

They have filter like that on Ebay. The guy that sells them is good to deal with. I know people also use those filtesr for cleaning WVO.

you can see here all the crap it gets out of WVO, i imagine it would do a better job with Motor oil..

I'm looking at a similar system to filter nearly 3000 gallons of WVO I have in my biodiesel operation. The use of a power steering pump is quite innovative from the infopop website.

I'm on there almost daily answering questions and asking more.
