Sound deadening a crewcab Lizard skin or Metal Shield

OK since I have my truck all torn apart I want to do a much better job sound deadening and insulating my cab than ford did. It was always fairly loud and the heater / AC didn't seem to keep up in extreme temperatures.

Has anyone used a product called Lizard Skin or Metal-Shield? They both appear to be good sound deadeners but I would like some personal experiences. Lizard skin seems more well known, but metal shield is less cost.

I plan to coat the underside of the cab and all the inside surfaces with a sprayable sound deadener. Floors, doors, roof, fire wall and rear wall.

I've heard of some using some stuff that you can get at home depot... Maybe they will chime in.

I don;t know anything about either, but my BS detector went on full alert at the lizzard skin site
They won't tell you what kind of spray gun is needed , and say you need their proprietary gun to apply it, that thing looks like a 12buck harbor freight sandblast gun with a cup attached to the siphon hose, but I bet that's not what they're charging for it

The other site is more up front with real world test specs and application figures right down to gun nozzle size so you can shoot that with the equipment that you own..
If you could knock down the noise and temp without spending a fortune it would be great, Especially if it's easy to handle

I guess my instincts on the metal shield were probably right I may have to look into this stuff. They seem to have some folks in high places that are happy with the stuff. I found this on there\:

At Lowes they have Peel N Seal in the roofing dept that a few here have tried and found to be pretty good. I just bought a few rolls and will be doing mine once the interior is out.

RLDSL - that was the same feeling I was getting from the websites.

I'm unsure what to do here. If I did the lizard skin to the level I wanted it would cost around 600 dollars to buy 4 gallons of their stuff and the special gun. I'm not going to spend that unless I can talk to someone who has used it. I heard of the stuff in a 4wheeler magazine when they did the 4x4 jeep with a cummins.

Now the Metal shield at 50 a gallon I might just try to experiment with and see how it works. If it goes well I can buy more. It seemed like it would be a good undercoating to keep the rock chips and road grime from rotting the bottom of my truck cab. And it has sound deadening properties that would be nice on the inside. I would shoot everything. Both sides of the firewall, door insides, roof, back wall, cab floor both sides, bottom of hood, and inside of fenders. So I plan to shoot some volume and the price of this is much friendlier.

I also plan to use the ice-dam stuff that you can get at home depot or lowes. I have a bunch left over from my roof. Thanks for reminding me.

I'm not against spending the money on this type of stuff, but I don't want to spend any more than I have to. We all know there is always a cheaper way to get the results. At the way vehicle prices are going I figure I'll own this truck until I die. So I might as well make it comfy to drive.

I think the Metal shield would be worth it as far as a rust treatment. I don't know how good it would be for sound deadening, but at one time I was hauling beams for bridges for the Arkansas highway department and those folks are unbelievably picky when it comes to rust, you wouldn't believe the test data that had to go with each beam ( make you feel good when you cross a late model bridge in this state . If they're happy with the stuff, it has to be good. I'd think it would be great for the bottom of the truck if nothing else
