I figure I'll get more traffic here since we deal more with the pre-'97 body styles.

For those of you that pull goosenecks and 5'ers, can you post some pictures of how you have your 7-blade round socket mounted in the bed and what socket you used?

When I setup Bruiser's, I used a Curt 4-pin to 7-blade adapter and found that it hits the outer bed skin when mounted in the bed (plastic behind mounting surface is too long). As a result, it's mounted at an angle with only 2 screws holding the top of the socket to the bed. What I'd really like to find a "shallow mount" that I can mount flat on the inner bed skin with the wiring making a sharp 90* turn down between the inner and outer bed skins. I'll be using etrailer's universal wiring kit when I do this one since some PO hacked all the factory wiring to hell.

I have one on my truck, mounted how you are wanting to do. It was already there when I got the truck, so I'm not sure how the install went. But it is flush. I will get a pic of it for you in the morning as I am not home at the moment.

Thanks! If you remember to, try to get a pic of it between the inner and outer bed skins. Maybe the one I put on Bruiser a few years back was just a little extra long :dunno The wiring is the only thing keeping it from mounting flush.

No pic since the truck is gone, but mine was installed in front of the wheel well on the drivers side. You could actually see the back side of the plug if you looked up inside the hip so it went thru both layers. I am not sure anybody has a shallow design.

You might want to look at the Bargman sealed cable assembly ( 50-87-007) or Arrow distributing # 210393. the pig tail is 7 foot long or they have a 4 foot pig tail. If you also put a 7-way at the rear bumper, then you can connect the in bed to it with the 7 foot pig tail. My 92 has a hole cut in on drivers side forward of the in bed fender bump about 18". Camper World should have them or any good size RV store.

There is plenty of room for full size plug. You just need to put it low on the bend. First pic is sideways. I don't know how to fix that.

That's EXACTLY what I'm looking for. Truck came with a 7-blade socket on the bumper. If course that wiring is all hacked, but it works so it'll stay until after I get the one in the bed installed. Whenever I get a new bed for Bruiser (eventually) I'll mount it like that as well. Thanks for the assist!

Don't have a picture, but our 93' F-350 has it in the bed pillar by the tailgate, drivers side, about half way up. Makes it easy to get the back to by removing the left rear turn/light assembly.

I thought about doing that, but in measuring the one on Bruiser, the faceplate would overhang the pillar (forward towards the cab) about an inch if it was butted right up against the tailgate.
