Hey guys,

I'm cleaning/painting/ refurbing my suspension on my truck (the one in my sig). It was an F250 which is now going to get a D60 and the springs off the same F350 the D60 came from on the rear. The donor truck had a sway bar on it (which I have with the hardware). My truck did not have a rear sway bar. It doesn't seem like it's something you see on every rear leaf spring truck. What are the pros and cons?

Thanks!

The only con is extra weight. Which really means that if you are willing to take the time to put it on, there is no particular down side. But you also may not feel much difference in the ride or handling. Our trucks are sprung pretty stiff and don't ride smoothly unless they have a load in the bed. But that same load may be too heavy for the sway bar to make much difference.

It still doesn't hurt to have one on, go for it.

Pro: Less sway
Con: Less suspension travel

If suspension is stock I'd leave it, if lifted I generally wouldn't bother as it'll just limit suspension travel.

i love rear sway bars.

handles better (duh!)
helps loads/towing.
easy to bolt on-off

poor flex off-road.

All the above are true, and if off roading is yer gig, just get or fab a quick disconnect and yer golden...max flex then!

Thus all PRO no Con then!

No off roading. Pavement queen for the most part. My thoughts were along those of knuckledragers in that the truck is sprung so heavy, I'm not sure how much good it would do. Might help when towing if the tongue weight isn't... well... over weight. Guess I'll go knock those brackets off the other truck too.

Hah. Had a sway bar then one day end link snapped. No difference in ride loaded or unloaded. Noticed purely accidentally

with a big load on the truck, handling is much better with the bar. Ride quality unloaded is worse with the bar...like they ever ride real nice.

I have contemplated pulling a leaf out of the rear pack and trying it since I do have the overloads.

Not sure what you mean by "u booted shocks."
But cab and chassis don't have em. At least not mine anyways. No front nor rear sway here.
