Can I use a radiator from a 351w to cool my 7.3 n/a idi? Some dirty so and so stole the one from my parts truck -cuss, so I don;t have a diesel radiator anymore. What are my options? $300 for a new radiator, and fabbing up a core support isn't looking too appealing at the moment :backoff.

Suggestions?

wait are you trying to use the 351 and gas support?

If you are.... you will need to merge the two hoses together, i used some piece of exhaust pipe and welded ribs on the end to keep the hoses from sliding off.

I am running a 4 core HD gas radiator and i'm just fine. Turbo, not intercooled and air conditioned. Running a BIG crown victoria cooling fan though.

Ok. I just wanted to hear that someone else had done it. ;Sweet I'll find a fan at the pick and pull tomorrow, but at least I can get my radiator plumbed, and the rest of thee swap finished.

i wouldnt try it a little to small. fork out the beans for a new one

I would love a diesel one, but I've already got to do driveshafts .

I'm still running the gas 351 4 core brass radiator with a crown vic two speed fan. Even with the warm days here and the a/c running i'm ok. So far the hottest i've seen is 210 in the overtemp position doing light to light hard throttle runs with 10K in tow. I have a spare diesel rad and core support but i'm just not in a hurry to replace it.

Those e-fans flow quite a bit of air also.....3k CFM ain't no slouch on anything. You do what ya gotta do to get by sometimes and it ends up working out great.

Coo. Thanks for the help guys. Overall, this swap isn't going TOO badly. I wish I would've measured my trans first though. The ZF-5 is 5 1/8"shorter than the AODE, so I had to fab a x-member today.

Any reason why you didn't just slide the x member where it needed to be and then redrill holes? I take it you're doing a diesel conversion? I wasn't aware that the AODE came behind 351W's......my 302 got cursed with it...what a pain to find parts.

AODE never came behind a 351w. C6 or E4OD

Yeah! that one!

I always get those two confused. And I can't just slide the crossmember forward, because of my steps - they're bolted to the frame. -cuss. If I had known, I wouldn't have put my steps there 6 months ago.:backoff

no thread on Pirate re: the swap?

I managed to make it over here from there researching Uhaul motors. 4runners thread has me inspired.

Well depending on what you're towing you might need to do the diesel rad swap. I did find the outer limits of my gas cooling system
