Pulling the E4OD and transfer case '89 F-350

further I made a beginning to get the Borg-Warner 13-56 transfercase off, and I started with the oil, since I don't know this type of transfercase, I wonder if these metal (aluminium) shavings look normal to you? (I think ANY of them are already TOO much?)

Oh, and the bottom of the can was clean before I caught the oil!

I wondered what that picture above was in your other post. Now I know it's your drain pan. Small little sparkles like that are normal from a transfer case or transmission with a lot of miles on them. What you don't want is larger chunks and flakes of paper looking stuff.

Thank you, but my truck only has 10125 real miles, a bit odd, already having such shavings, isn't it?

taking out my tranny, the manual states"remove starter", have a look at the foto's, I didn't move the starter, but h***, I don't know of a way to remove it, does anyone here?

In my experience it blocks between the frame rails, and the mounting flange from the engine itself?
and whatever I do, i can't get it past one of them.

Sometimes it takes a little to get the starter just right to come out. Getting that cable off would help.


I would pull that t case apart and check it out......especially the shift forks. That is ALOT of aluminum.

The starter, that cable, yes I know, But I remember the last time, and decided not to go all overboard, this time it's only to get the tranny off.
But since the last time really annoyed me, imagine if you have a faulty starter somewhere, and you can't get it off???

Transfer case, well, as I said, this truck only has 10,125 or so miles, when I bought it, only 2,500 or so, and under my watch it never has seen any terrain, so,I wonder???
