Pulling Engine help!!

Hey all! New to the site, so i have this old 1994 that was a farm truck and she is just real tired, i have 1996 12 valve that i am gonna drop in. So tips on pulling the old 7.3 beast? should i use a tractor instead of a hoist? Can i leave the tranny on? it would make things faster/easier when installing the cummins. the whole front end is already off as well.

Also if anyone needs parts let me know, i think the IP is pretty well shot but i imagine it can be rebuilt.

I have pulled a couple IDIs from Ford pickups, and I used a hoist and lifted it over the radiator support, no tranny attached. I know several members here speak of the ease of pulling the front clip--that evidently makes it MUCH easier.

Welcome to the forum. If as you say the front clip is off the truck you can pul the engine and trans as one piece. Figure about 1500 lbs if it has the E4OD tans but less if it has a standard trans. If you explain more about the engine and trans or if this 94 engine has a turbo on it you might get more interest.

Like said, easiest to remove engine/tranny as 1 piece if the core support is out of the way.

it has a zf5 thats i will keep with the swap. No sense pulling it if i dont need to so its fin to pull the engine without dropping the trans first? Its a factory turbo, the turbo is already sold. But all other parts are up for grabs except for tranny back. I live in Central oregon

in my original post i ment leave the tranny in the truck, not leave it on the engine. also the front clip is off already.

I used a removal guide I found on here. It was super easy, I didn't remove any of the body or core. I also used a 2 ton engine hoist set at 1/2 ton for the reach. It held just fine for me but YMMV. Watch out for the wiper motor. If you already have the front clip off it should be a walk in the park. I had to use a small crowbar to release the engine dowel pins. I left the trans on the truck.

I"d be quite happy to work out a deal on the flywheel from that factory turbo engine!!! Dibs if it aint sold yet!

Great this should be easy, gramps let me borrow his tractor and the front clip is all the way off. Perfect. This weekend it is! Where did you get the removal guide? and I dont believe i will need the fly wheel, i think i will use the 12v flywheel.
