It's one of those thoroughly neglected items that you really need to get under there once in a while and clean off as they get all caked up with a mix of oil, diesel, road tar, gravel, bugs, dirt, and enough other yuk to pack the things in so tight that after a while they do more to keep the heat in, than to help dissipate it.


Yeah, one of mine has plenty of excellent insulation in the form of road grime, oil and dirt. The place Ford installed it is not conducive to air flow, either.
