Also found out it was 3* not 8*.I know I have 1 glow plug not woking(harness conn) lucky it started..although it was loud at those temps.
Sooo. This one glow plug not working is new information omitted in the first post...
This was important information but I'm sure you have no real engine issues. Se, the combustion chamber needs to be hot for the diesel to ignite. Its 942 degrees hot. Compressing air FAST creates heat. When that heat is not enough then the glow plug help out. Also the faster the engine cranks the hotter the air gets. We could never make enough heat by slow cranking our idi engines so please don't try to start a dead battery system by slow cranking. Get it spinning fast . Ever wonder what a pull started car or truck fires off so easily.. Air in the cylinder heat up from fast compression of the air. No doubt you made some smoke with one plug bad. Probably hurt the eyes too..
