poor old IDI

this is a friends truck.some kid slid on ice out into the middle of the main road.my buddy couldnt stop in time and hit the kids dodge.it ripped the front wheel and caliper off the super duty and sent it into a telephone pole.he had no breaks or steering.the dodge ended up hitting a house.i didnt see the dodge as this happened while i was in florida.

Boy that thing took a pounding, I can really see it in the drivers side wheel because it's shoved back as well.

as far as i know nobody was hurt except the 2 trucks.ya its whacked hard.i think the mottor and tranny were pushed back a few inches as well cuz the shifter seems to be back a bit further than it should be.hopefully the motor wasnt hurt as that was a strong runnin IDI.the insurance will total it and he is planning on buying it back to put the bed on something else and yankin the motor out of it.the tranny is junk so we dont care about that.but the rear end is still good as well as some other parts that can be used on the cab swap project.

i think it's a tad ironic that the IDI is a wrecker. But yeah, that sucks.

actually now that i think of it this is the 2nd super duty that ive seen get a wheel ripped of it in an accident.we but a cab/chassis that was wrecked harder than this one cuz we needed the ebrake for this truck.well that cab/chassis also had the wheel ripped clean off the spindle with the rotor and caliper still attached to the rim .

Ouch! That sucks. Looks like he might have made out OK if it were not for that pole. A pole is a mortal enemy in a collision. Same as a tree. Insurance isn't going to give him spit for it, and that's what really gets me fired up. When it's not your fault, you should get full retail value for what you paid. NOT for what they think it is worth. The laws should be changed.

actually Mel that truck will probably get him around 12,000.00 for it.last super duty he had the frame broke behind the cab.the insurance company paid to fix it.a few months later it got rearended and broke the frame again.the insurance totaled it,paid him 11,000.00 for the truck.he bought the truck back for 1500.00 had the frame welded again and sold it for 9500.00.

what gets me is that when mine got wrecked they paid to fix it but was fighting me on the radiator.and mine was hit hard.bent,swayed and diamond the frame.bent the ICC bumper and subframe for the bed,and moved the cab backwards 2 inches and stuffed the fan through my brand new 450 dollar radiator.and the shop that did the work sucked.i go to pick it up and the ICC bumper is still bent.i get the story of"well we can give it another pull if you want",damn right you will i want it straight.well after 3 more pulls it is still bent.i told them to go fly a kite in a few not so nice words and took my truck.

The ironic part is I have a clean titled rust-free glider chassis(no powertrain) in kali looking for a new home. the shipping to the east coast would be a killer though.
