Polyurethain VS rubber cab mounts , on a crewcab ?

Hey guys, I need some opinions on replacement cab mounts


I am starting my 12V cummins ford F350 crew project this week and have the body off already .


I will be plowing snow privately not commercially, and houling Hay & compost mostly ( basically a farm and chore truck )


My application is such that I have a solid 94 cab sheetmetal and excelent condition frame mounts


So, I have heard poly will stiffen the feel, and could someday actually stress the steetmetal to the point of actually pushing throught cab metal ?


I want the best thing for the truck, so I will put in what ever I need , Rubber or Poly ?


I dont have time to do the job twice , and dont want to make holes in my floor if what I'm told about poly is true >

So please offer up your opionion

I have poly on mine and it is showing no signs of pushing thru, 3 years, if you think it may be an issue put as big a plate between the mount and cab as you can fit.

I have polyurethane cab bushings. The upside is a much lower cost, longevity and tighter control (less sway) but the down side is a stiffer ride. You will never need to replace a poly cab bushing. Go ahead and price Ford OEM rubber cab mounts and you will fall off your chair. Seven years ago I got a price of just under $600 for the set of six. Natural rubber is expensive, will not last forever but the up side is a very comfortable ride. Chances are good that you will need to get new bolts, washers and sleeves as removing the old ones may be rough without cutting them and pounding them out of shape.

Yes very much so!

Almost to the point I'd go back to the rubbers on the crew cab. The frame flexes so much the cab is flexing and not to keen about it either.

Now on the regular cab it's not as bad but I'm banging that thing all over anyway pushing snow in the winter and it's just my work truck.

If you're going over a lot of uneven terrain, I'd prolly stick with the factor ones if ya want to bite the bullet for em to save the cab.

I have both buy the way guys...rubber and poly...so it's not a matter of investing anything out of pocket....it's more what is best for the Cab it'self, and ride

I dont want my cab to stress and fall apart...or develop rust if it truely will flex with the frame.....I dont know...so there for I ask !

I think we do.
What had me concerned about cab fatigue was the fact the rocker panels and floor pans were rusting and I found stress cracks at both A pillars and the firewall at the trans tunnel had an 8" tear. Fixed it all up but hearing it traverse over rough terrain makes me cringe. I ended up putting a hockey puck body lift on and the softer pucks did lessen the stiffness.
